Anna Katz

Nice to meet you.

I’m a ghostwriter, editor, and award-winning author. I love working with writers who are curious about themselves and the world, and I love working with agents and editors who are looking for a trusted professional to do the heavy lifting and the fine tuning, and to turn in the manuscript on time, too.

Along with individual authors, clients include Hachette, Chronicle, W. W. Norton, Penguin Random House, Welden Owen, Nat Geo Kids, Pokemon, Mountaineers Books, and Girl Friday Productions.

One of my own books, The Art of Ramona Quimby (Chronicle, 2020), was recommended by novelist Jasmine Guillory on the Today Show and praised in the New York Times and the Paris Review. (My favorite Ramona quote: "Ramona scowled. 'I am too a Merry Sunshine!' she shouted angrily.")

Before venturing into writing and editing, I spent a decade in the world of mental health, earning a master’s degree in existential phenomenological therapeutic psychology from Seattle University, followed by certificates in editing and writing from the University of Washington. My background in mental health pairs perfectly with writing and editing—both vocations are about helping people clarify their thinking and express themselves effectively. I live with my family in Seattle.

Anna was invaluable to the shaping of my book. She clarified complex concepts, enhanced its structure and was equally invested into making it the best book possible. I would work with Anna again in a heartbeat.”
